Previously I wrote about the 3 signs you will make a great Bowen therapist. This time I want to talk more about Bowen therapy as a career.
Most Bowen therapists are self-employed which has wider implications for both your career and lifestyle.
During my 30+ year career in natural therapies I’ve been through many changes, both personal and professional. I have developed ongoing professional relationships with many of my clients.
Here are a few reasons why Bowen therapy has proved to be a great career choice for me and why it might be right for you.
Easy career transition
Bowen therapy offers a great opportunity to make a career change or to obtain additional qualifications for people who already have training in the medical or therapeutic fields. Bowen allowed me to transition from the massage and beauty therapy industry, into a career which provides improved healing for the client and one that has given me greater job satisfaction.
To start training as a Bowen therapist you do not need specific qualifications just a willingness to learn and a desire to be involved with an amazing therapy. The training course is presented in a module format. After enrolling and attending the first module you will have a feel if becoming a Bowen Therapist is for you. After completing the Certificate IV in Bowen Therapy 10846NAT you can obtain insurance go on to practice Bowen Therapy professionally. You can further develop your Bowen Therapy career by completing the Diploma of specialised Bowen Therapy 10847NAT and progressing into specialised fields if you choose. Your career as a Bowen Therapist can be as extensive or as specialised, as you would like it to be.
As a practicing Bowen therapist and teacher my training is ongoing. Every year I attend and deliver workshops and courses which strengthens my knowledge and allows me to network with other therapists. We are all here to support each other and the Bowen network is strong.
A career for life
Working as a self-employed Bowen therapist has the advantage of having no work expiry date – you can work full or part time, allowing you to retire when and if you choose.
A manual job that involves heavy lifting, or an administrative job involving too much time at a desk or on the computer, can cause dysfunction in your body. Working does not involve the physical effort required as a massage therapist or other physical modalities which will allow me work and enjoy my profession, well into my old age!
Flexible hours and practice location
Like most mums, I find being able to work flexible hours and work from various locations is a bonus. This gives me variety and work flexibility which allows for time when I need to be with my daughter. l can also manage my work hours to suit both my family and client needs.
My business works out of four separate locations in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast and in Adelaide, South Australia. This works well for me, my family and my clients which allows me to offer clients a choice of locations. Getting successes out into the community, interacting with new people and sharing this amazing modality is what I am all about.
In fact the Bowen Technique works well for everyone!
Those are the three main benefits I receive from my career. How about you, would you be interested in a rewarding career?
