Ever considered a career as a Bowen therapist?
Before you embark on a new direction take a moment to consider what you’re good at, what you love doing best and if you have the qualities to become a happy, successful practitioner.
After 30+ years in the health and wellness industry and 18 years of working as a Bowen Therapist I feel very blessed because I am still passionate and motivated from witnessing sometimes small and sometimes large miracles most days.
So do you have what it takes? A good candidate has many qualities. Here are the first three that come to mind –
1. A Caring nature
As with any career in healthcare, being a therapist is primarily about helping people. There are plenty of skills you can develop overtime but it helps if you start out with a caring, open attitude.
Having a background in massage, kinesiology and beauty therapy, combined with a strong interest in complimentary therapies and general health and wellbeing, It was a natural progression for me. I guess I always enjoyed caring for people and it allowed me to take it to another level.
2. Want to make a difference.
Would you enjoy making people feel healthy and happy? I also enjoy assisting people to feel healthy and happy, working with them and witnessing the healing process is quite a humbling experience, I am continually in awe of the bodies ability to take facilitated information and apply it to the healing process.
I first discovered Bowen when some work colleagues convinced me to join them for a workshop, and I immediately knew it was an area I wanted to explore more. Once receiving a few treatments I noticed a significant difference is my pain and discomfort levels not to mention an inner voice continually reminding me to address my posture, this ignited further interest.
I love Bowen because it enables me to enhance people’s health and well-being as well as my own. Treatment is a relaxing experience for most people and makes a significant difference to their quality of life through stimulating a healing response within the body. If you would like to know more about this self-healing response please contact me at your convenience.
3. Want a rewarding career.
Usually people feel a benefit after just one treatment, with full benefits felt after a course of approximately three treatments. Many of the conditions I treat are fully addressed after these three treatments however chronic conditions have best results when treated regularly with a maintenance program. The thing I love most about Bowen is that the results are long lasting. Working with the client and reminding them to listen to that little voice inside their head is the key to improvement and a bright and happy future, remember your body knows best!
I get to work with clients for a few weeks, a few months or in some cases a few years and in that time you build a strong working relationship with them. Treating people regularly and monitoring their progress enables you to tailor a treatment plan to their needs so they can gain the maximum benefit from each session with you.
That connection with other people and the satisfaction that comes from being able to make a positive difference for people is what brings me a sense fulfilment and happiness.
